Established in Poplarville in 1923, Pearl River Community College (PRCC) was the state’s first junior college, and it has a rich history of excellence. PRCC has received numerous distinctions as one of the nation’s top community colleges. It currently ranks 17th in CNN Money's list for preparing students to continue their education, 23rd in Create A Career's national standings, and 28th in TheBestSchools.org's rankings.

PRCC is one of Pearl River County’s primary assets—it enables the county to be a viable location for industry. The community college offers robust workforce training programs that can be customized to meet the needs of local industry, emphasizing PRCC’s commitment to providing high-skills training for the county. Through the State Board of Community and Junior Colleges, PRCC can obtain funding to create this customized training.
